Keeping track of the distribution of marshals is a real challenge at a cycling event of this size. On the more than 200 intersections and junctions per stage, which are secured by our volunteer team, it is important for me and my area managers to provide everyone with an overview. The particular difficulty here is not only the sheer quantity, but also the fact that some volunteers are deployed at several points along the course on one day. In this respect, the team assistant was a considerable gain for the organisation in the areas of availability and contact options. My team is also looking forward to being able to take over much of the preparatory work and volunteers from this year for the next edition. This will not only save us time, but also enable us to transfer valuable knowledge and avoid mistakes.
